In an age where complicated contracts and leagues of lawyers can often dictate business deals, Dr. Michael Perry knows a simple gesture can seal the deal, too. That’s how the company he helped start was born — with a firm handshake. More than a decade later, he’s surpassed every goal he ever imagined as Co-Founder and Chief Medical Director of Laser Spine Institute.

What began as a small, hungry company with one operating room, three doctors and nine employees, has grown to several state-of-the-art surgery centers with more than 1,200 teammates nationwide. To say he’s proud of the homegrown company he helped elevate to one of the most recognizable brands in spine care wouldn’t do his outlook justice. And it’s this humble, approachable, often witty demeanor that’s defined his career.

Dr. Perry holds Laser Spine Institute’s mission of patient satisfaction and medical innovation in the highest regard, continually seeking ways to elevate the level of care. He’s frequently sought out for his minimally invasive spine surgery expertise and is a leading contributor to major medical publications.

Dr. Perry received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. He is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

As a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physician Executives, American College of Sports Medicine and International College of Surgeons, Dr. Perry is on the pulse of the industry he’s helped define. He’s also a Value Committee member for the North American Spine Society.

Dr. Perry considers co-founding and cultivating Laser Spine Institute as one his biggest career accomplishments. When not spending time with his work family, he values quality time with his wife and children.
